Pung - The Pung, a cylindrical double-headed drum from Manipur, is an integral part of the state's rich cultural heritage. Used prominently in the Pung Cholom dance, it is considered as the "king of musical instruments" by the Meitei community. Crafted from softwood with leather-covered ends, the Pung plays an important role in Manipuri Sankirtana music and classical dance, reflecting the region's artistic traditions.
Pena - The pena is a mono-stringed musical instrument deeply connected with the traditions of Manipur. Resembling a lute, it holds significant cultural importance, particularly in the Lai Haraoba festival accompanying dance and rituals. Worryingly, the number of active pena players in Manipur is limited.
Ras Leela - The Ras Leela, a globally renowned Manipuri Classical dance, depicts the timeless love story of Radha and Krishna. This classical dance is conducted during nighttime hours in certain temples, with Shree Shree Govindaji temple being a prominent location. Enjoy and experience the unique Manipuri culture through this classical performance.
Pung cholom - Pung Cholom is a traditional dance form of Manipur, known for its unique drumming style and energetic movements. It is an exclusive classical dance where dancers play the Pung, a hand-beaten drum, while dancing. The dance is characterized by its rhythmic beats and acrobatic elements.
