Ongoing Works: Status and Updates


A slate of high-impact projects is in its final stages, set to become operational soon. Here’s the latest on the progress of some of the near completion projects:

Streets for People:

The development of pedestrian-friendly streets with a street museum will celebrate Manipur’s rich cultural heritage while prioritizing people over vehicles. By reducing traffic and promoting walking and cycling, the project creates vibrant community spaces with eco-friendly and accessible infrastructure. Thoughtfully designed street furniture, softscapes, and inclusive amenities promoting interaction, comfort, and a greener urban experience, redefining the city’s road network for a more sustainable future.

Thangal Road/Mall Road Phase II:

The second phase of the pedestrian mall road (from Kasturi Road to Khuyathong) expands its footprint, refining traffic and adding amenities. It’s on track for completion soon, aiming to cement the area as a commercial-social hotspot.

Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC):

A preliminary control centre is already monitoring traffic, waste, and security with real-time data.Though not fully operational, it hints at the tech-driven future awaiting the city.

ICCC Building

The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) Building of Imphal Smart City is targeted for completion soon. The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) building of Imphal Smart City will serve as a central hub designed to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of urban operations in Imphal. Its primary purpose is to act as a "nerve centre" for the city, enabling real-time monitoring, data analysis, and coordinated management of various civic services and infrastructure.

Western Riverfront Development Phase II:

The Western Riverfront of Imphal River Phase 2, also known as Kangla Nongpok Torban Phase 2, is a continuation of the development of Phase 1, extending the vision of harmonizing nature and people. Spanning 1.2 kilometres from Nongpok Thong to Minuthong, this phase enhances connectivity between people and the serene beauty of the Imphal River.

Rotary Parking:

Parking in Imphal is set to be revolutionized with the construction of Rotary Parking facilities for two- wheelers and four-wheelers at four locations. This smart parking solution features automated parking systems, enclosed structures, and vehicle security. These facilities will help reduce congestion, save time, restrict theft and unauthorized access. By utilizing vertical space, more vehicles can be parked in a smaller area, making it ideal for areas with limited ground space.

GIS Property Tax Module:

Leveraging advanced GIS and 3D mapping, the Property Tax Module will revolutionize urban planning and tax management. With geo-tagged property assessments, a mobile survey app, and an integrated tax application, the system will ensure transparency, real-time tracking of property data, enhancing governance and revenue generation, while simplifying the tax process for citizens and strengthening urban administration. The project is currently in platform testing phase.

Development of Eastern River Front (Road) from Sanjenthong to Minuthong

Imphal Smart City’s Development of Eastern Riverfront (Road) project is a key initiative aimed at improving access and enhancing connectivity in the city. It will be a model road that will stretch from Sanjenthong to Minuthong. With work already in progress, this new road will provide alternate routes, ease traffic congestion, and provide better access to one of Imphal’s historic spots- Nongpok Thong which is a reconstruction in replica of the old Nongpok Thong under Imphal Smart City Mission
